About Us

Feather Steps Dance Academy. A collaboration of 2 of the Top Professional Ballroom & Latin American Dance instructors in East Anglia.
Based in Ipswich, Colchester and surrounding areas, Crystal and Michelle have over 20 years of dance and teaching experience. Both ladies are a Champion in their own right. Together they work as a strong team to strive to produce quality dancers and above all a dance family they call their own, sharing their love, knowledge and enthusiasm to others.

Your dedication and commitment to dance is something that you should be extremely proud of. Your attention to detail and striving to always be your best is your superpower. Not afraid of hard work or what it takes has sculptured you in to the dancer you are today. We are so proud of your continuous improvement and your week in week out passion. 🌟DOUBLE FINALIST 🏆 2024 Blackpool Grand Finals EVIE MITCHELL- 🌟4th SDT Under 21 Ballroom 🌟4th SDT Under 21 Latin We are so proud of Evie for making both of her Finals. This year Evie has really found herself in dance and has improved so much, developing into a beautiful dancer that is always real with herself and not afraid of hard work. Evie always walks in with a smile and with this brings a charisma that never goes unnoticed. It was beautiful to see how far you have come dancing on the winter gardens dance floor. Now at University we will miss you and wish you all the best with your future and continued dance journey.

🌟WINNER & DOUBLE PODUIM FINISH 🏆 2024 Blackpool Grand Finals EMILY HAWKRIDGE- WINNER 🏆 Non-Quailfied Under 40 up to Bronze Ballroom. 🌟 2nd Non-Quailfied Under 40 up to Bronze Latin We were over the moon to have Emily join us this Grand Finals after having quite a challenging year, only deciding to dance the month before after a long break from competitions. In the short time leading up to Grand Finals she put in an extreme amount of hard work and it really did pay off. You could see her determination and the want to do well. We saw a side of Emily we’ve never seen before really coming out of her shell from the shy little girl that she was. She’s really blossomed in to a mature young lady that brought the performance to the floor. Congratulations Emily on your return to the Dance floor.

🌟QUADRUPLE FINALIST & TRIPLE PODIUM FINISH 🏆 2024 Blackpool Grand Finals SOFIA SZUCSOVA - 🏆WINNER Open Paso Doble Junior. 🌟2nd Silver Junior Latin. 🌟3rd Open Viennese Waltz Junior. 🌟5th Silver Junior Ballroom. Sofia is a talented natural young dancer that is beautiful from the inside out. Her continuous commitment and dedication to dance shows in her results. Nothing holds her back and is always ready to take on a challenge making her an absolute joy to teach. We are over the moon for Sofia Winning the Open Paso Doble. Her first win at Blackpool Grand Finals and was truly deserved after all of her hard work week in week out. What an achievement to have made all of your Finals. You have a bright future ahead of you Sofia.

🌟DOUBLE FINALIST 🏆 2024 Blackpool Grand Finals ANNA SHVETS- 3rd Pre-Bronze Juvenile Ballroom, 4th Pre-Bronze Juvenile Latin. We are thrilled that Anna made both of her Pre-Bronze Finals. Anna is a beautiful dancer who works hard in lessons and listens carefully to critique to better herself as a dancer paying close attention to the technique. This was Anna’s last Juvenile Blackpool and after a successful juvenile career we welcome her into the junior field and wish her all the very best.

🌟 TRIPLE FINALIST & DOUBLE VICE CHAMPION 🏆 2024 Blackpool Grand Finals MATTHEW WALKER - 2nd SDT Juvenile Boys 10-11years Ballroom, 2nd SDT Juvenile Boys 10-11years Latin, 6th 10-11yeas Open Paso Doble. What an amazing and successful Grand Finals for Matthew making all of his solo events. Matthew is a very talented boy and over the last few months has worked extremely hard at perfecting details of technique and along with his enthusiastic love of dance has been a joy to teach. We are so proud of his result and improvement on the lead up to Blackpool. Keep up the hard work and consistency and we look forward to see what’s to come.

🌟DOUBLE FINALIST 🏆 2024 Blackpool Grand Finals APRIL SMITH - 5th SDT 10-11tears Latin & 7th SDT 8-9years Ballroom. Double finalist for April in one of the hardest categories of the weekend. Congratulations on your fantastic results. It just shows the hours of hard work and commitment pay off. You maybe a quiet little soul but on the dance floor are showing your worth of becoming a strong independent dancer. You have come so far over the course of this year and we are so incredibly proud and excited to see you grow in the years to come.

🌟PODIUM FINISH & DOUBLE FINALIST 🏆 2024 Blackpool Grand Finals PHOEBE WOODS - 3rd Under 6 Latin & 4th Under 6 & Under 8 Primary Ballroom. What a phenomenal day for Phoebe in her very first Blackpool Grand Finals. What an amazing achievement to have made both of her finals and we can’t be any more prouder. Still a newbie to competitions although is finding herself with high elements of performance. Phoebe shows an elegance in her poise for such a young age and her personality and smile radiates on the dance floor. Congratulation Phoebe keep up the fantastic work as you now enter the under 8’s.

🌟 FINALIST 🏆 2024 Blackpool Grand Finals ERIKA RYMKEVICE- 6th Juvenile Non-Qualified Up to Bronze Ballroom. We are thrilled to bits that Erika made this tough final. Erika is a very talented young lady and when she puts her mind to it, is a force to be reckoned with and today she definitely pulled it out the bag making her ballroom final. Congratulations Erika!
